Description
The Lowland Leader Award Assessment evaluates your skills required to lead walking groups in lowland countryside, woodland and coastal areas. The assessment includes route-finding skills, understanding hazards and risk management, leadership techniques and an appreciation of equipment, resources and the impact of weather. This assessment is suitable for anyone who has completed the Lowland Leader Award Training. This assessment is approved by Mountaineering Ireland. Passing your assessment starts you on the path of the professional outdoor leader qualifications.
This assessments evaluates your:
Leadership skills and group management
Walking skills
Planning walks, route choices
Map work and route finding skills
Personal and group equipment
Hazards and emergency procedures
Environmental awareness, conservation, hillside access and land ownership
Sourcing local information and maps
Scope of the award
Times: 9.00 am – 6.00 pm each day
